Perfect mini hori-hori knife! I love, love, love this for garden and yard work. And the price! At under $10 it’s a fantastic bargain. Obviously the profile is different than most knives, It’s thicker and chunkier, with a distinct center line – everything seems designed to maximize overall strength and versatility instead of prioritizing a thin blade edge. It adds up to a tough little weeding and grubbing knife that can take a beating. Plus there’s serrated base which whips through woody bits and small branches. And since it’s about 5-7 inches shorter than any hori or soil knife on the market it offers considerably more control – it also should go without saying that you can get into super tight spaces around plants. There’s a full tang with a lightly textured, dense plastic handle (I like the bluish-greenish-grey color). The sheath is pretty much useless. The molded plastic doesn’t actually “hold” the knife, bend down and the knife slides right out – it’s closer to a cup holder than a sheath. And that clip is going to break, it’s preordained. But come on, for under $10 were you expecting a hand made leather holder? Grab some leather scraps, a roll of duct tape and DIY your own sheath; go wild, add some glitter if you want.
